#WhoIsMuhammad MeetUp Exhibition – 5th February 2015

It has been such a great evening at the MeetUp exhibition in Oxford Street and at the same time, it was exciting because I have been asked by Ahlan Art to bring my piece for the exhibition, which is such an honour! At the exhibition, there are some beautiful artworks that I found inspiring too – this is really a good opportunity to see as these works could help me to build up ideas as well as developing them for when I plan to produce a new art piece in the future.

On the other hand, I find this MeetUp exhibition to be a good opportunity for professional networking so I met two of the Ahlan Art co-founders/directors, Hassan & Mohamed and also, this lovely & talented artist, Raanaz Shahid.

Raanaz is a calligraphy artist whose work includes combining traditional lettering methods and with her creative skills has allowed Raanaz to adapt and refine her writing technique. Over the course of several years, she has developed her own unique Arabic calligraphy style. To compliment this, Raanaz uses her textiles skills, mixed media, fabrics, Swarovski Elements and other crystals, pearls/stones, natural stones, resulting in a high-quality finished product.

So as I am considering to continue using calligraphy as well as looking for to develop ideas for my future works, Raanaz’s work is such an interesting example as it gives some ideas of doing calligraphy differently and uniquely.
